To Those Called to be Saints in Valparaiso:
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
This is (more or less) the way Saint Paul addressed his letters to the various churches;
“to those called to be saints.” By that he meant everyone – those who are especially
holy, and the rest of us who are, let’s say, working on it. The good news is that the
definition of a saint is not a person who has achieved perfection, but rather one who
shows the world a life lived in God, with the inevitable struggles and difficulties of
human existence.
I am beyond excited, looking forward to joining you at St. Andrew’s in the middle of June! From what I heard and saw when Jon and I visited in March, and from your news
since that time, there are great things happening. I can’t wait to get to know you all, and
to see what the Holy Spirit has in mind for the next steps in our joint calling to be saints
